Kathryn Thomas is a professional artist of oil paintings, currently residing and working in Bristol where she has been based for 20 years. She has established her reputation with richly coloured oil paintings inspired by the meeting of land, sea and sky, building her work layer on layer, giving it depth and translucency, the colour and tone changing with the light and angle of view. Paintings that demand time, they also stand outside it.
Her success has been built upon her interpretation of light and natural elements, her paintings inspiring feelings and thoughts far beyond simple pleasure. She asks her audience to 'see' different aspects of human emotion in her work and in this she has been instrumental in numerous clients drawing encouragement, belief, security, reason and hope dependant upon their own very personal circumstances.
Kathryn’s career clearly shows a number of key phases in her development from her original and very popular images of sunsets, dawns and clouds through a subsequent fascination with fire, ice and the Aurora Borealis to her captivating ‘starscapes’.
